| I've been using the Resident Evil 5 collectors edition bag to carry around to school and elsewhere, and I decided it was high time to get a real bag. I didn't want to settle for a contemporary messenger bag, although they could be large. I never carry around too much, so I decided to go to At The Front Militaria (www.atthefront.com) and pick up an M36 Musette bag. Called the "Bag, Canvas Field, Model 1936," the Musette bag as it was well known by was a general purpose bag that was issued to officers so they did not have to use the Model 1928 haversack. However, as with much of the common pieces of WWII USGI gear, the Musette bag found it's way into all levels of service, from the lowly private to generals. This particular model is called the "Transitional," which was introduced in 1944. In 1943, much of the common gear you saw in early war was replaced by M1943 uniforms and boots, although field gear remained the same. However, to standardize, the OD(Olive drab) shade known as "OD #3" was beginning to be replaced by the darker "OD #7." Transitional gear is gear produced during that period, and is typically shown with a mix of OD #3 and OD#7. In the case of the musette bag, the body of the bag is in OD#7 while the trim and canvas straps are in OD#3. Great bag for my level of use, and At The Front produces militaria at the standards of WWII gear, meaning it will last my entire life time and then some!
Anyways, the pics!

| | Forty years ago this day, Apollo 11 landed the first manned crew on the moon. This signaled the first steps of man's foray onto an astral body in the vastness of space. Let's hope that the next forty years will be just as monumental and exciting as the last! | comments: Sing for me, Darling |

| Another Deathwatch Marine I made. This one is less elaborate and simple, and represents Brother Harek from the Space Wolves. Dual lightning claws, since I felt it was appropriate. LCs are custom made from Loyalist powerfists and Chaos knives.

| I swapped out the chain sword for a power sword, so I could represent this guy as a sergeant. Here is he based and assembled. He will be primed either today or tomorrow then I will paint and finish within a day or two.
EDIT 9/22: Deathwatch Tactical is now Deathwatch Captain Marius, from the Iron Snakes. Here's the WIP before primer:

| Looked through my parts bin, bored. So I found a bunch of parts and cooked up this Tactical Marine, in the Deathwatch theme once again.
Bolter was cut up from a Master Crafted bolter from the Command Squad set, and the ammo drum was from the Black Reach Sampler Terminator. I wanted to give him a bit of a tech-y feel, so I used the back torso from the Marine vehicle accessory sprue. I think it looks pretty damn good.

| September 2008 #344 issue of White Dwarf magazine came with a free sampler sprue for Warhammer 40K's new boxed set, "Assault on Black Reach."
They're pretty simple "Push together" models that don't actually require glue, but I used glue on the Terminator so that it would be secure. I used some parts from my 40K parts bin to customize my Terminator. The Deathwatch shoulder pauldron and heavy flamer are spares. Everything else is stock from the spure. First, pics of the sprue.

Finally, here's the finished product. The character is Brother Gerhard, Sword Bretheren of the Black Templars, on loan to the Deathwatch.

| Beam Zanber done, not panel lined yet. Decided to work on just the Crossbone first, then do Musha next. As usual, I added a bit from my 40K spares bin, this time a fleur-de-lis from a Sisters of Battle decal sheet.

| Kumoricon is over, and for me officially marks the end of the summer. The dealers room was pretty pathetic this year, but I did manage to score Shin Musha Gundam and Crossbone Gundam Full Cloth. I will be working on both at the same time, and I started with Crossbone Gundam. I wil post my progress as I hammer out these two great looking kits!

| So I decided that I don't really have a lot of stuff to post that I'd think I'd publicize, so I'm changing the focus of this LJ. To anyone who actually reads my LJ still, expect the two most recent posts below this one to be the norm. This journal will be a work journal of sorts for my hobbies and crafts. I may still post an occasional, intelligent and thoughtful post, but we'll have to see about those.
Anyways, have fun people! | comments: 1 comment or Sing for me, Darling |
| I got a hold of this mini thanks to a friend, and I cracked him out over two days. A bit too much on the varnish AGAIN, which frustrates me, but otherwise I love it. The Chaos Chosen is supposed to be Tzeentchite, hence the choice of colors. The cape was painted with a technique called "Blending," and this was my first attempt at it. Not bad after I look at it. Enjoy!

| I've been working on a number of 1/35th scale military kits, a middle production Jagdpanzer Hetzer, a Jagdpanzer IV L/70 Lang, and a SdKfz.222 light armored car. I've finished the armored car, although I missed some gaps on it that weren't apparent until I started painting the thing. Oh well, lessons learned for next time. Here's the vehicle as is, representing a vehicle from 1st Company, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 5th Light Division in North Africa, 1941:

| I had another interesting dream last night (Mon-Tues), and I thought I'd share it here.
The dream starts out with me sitting out on the stairs of grandma's house. It is summer, warm, and the sun is going down. The earth as my dream self knows it, has been colonized by this race of reptilian aliens from who knows where. I wave to a few of them as they walk by, and they wave back. It seems that humanity and these aliens are living in relative peace and harmony.
Scene change.
Now, the neighborhood where grandma lives is bustling with activity. There's an exodus of the majority of the human population in our block, and I'm sitting on the stairs to the front door watching this. Suddenly, in the crowd of people packing into busses, cars, trucks, all manners of vehicles, I recognize a girl within the dream(whom I do not recognize in reality). I get up and walk to the sidewalk, as she muscles her way through the crowd with her bike towards me. We exchange "hi's," and chat for a minute, and then she tells me, "Sorry Mike, I have to go now." So I smile and I wave to her, and I watch as she walks towards a large Chevy truck, and puts her bike in the bed. I then get up and shout, "Wait!!," and she stops, and I run to her. She and I pack into the truck, along side some teen(?) with a skateboard. Driving the truck is a hispanic male, and what I suppose was his wife in the front passenger seat.
Scene change.
I'm now living in this underground bunker, something like an old bomb shelter. I am living with another girl whom is not the first one I got into the truck with. My dream self knows that we are the remanents of a survivor group, part of the original exodus. My dream self also knows that we are living underground because above, it is riddled with zombies. Basically, the reason for the exodus was that the alien race turned hostile, and began forcefully eliminating human communities for more settlers, and herding survivors into slave facilities, which was the reason for the exodus. The dead have been implanted with some kind of technology that turns them into living corpses, as part of a "No Waste" policy aimed at flushing out survivors like us. We're taking care of cleaning and food within the shelter as we hear something near the entrance, and it is a pair of bandits who stumbled upon our shelter, and they run into us. One of them pulls a gun and I tackle him immediately before he shoots. My partner grabs a rifle and shoots the other guy, and I wrestle the gun out of his hand. As he pushes me off, he pulls a knife and lunges at me, and she shoots him also.
So now, we have to dispose of the bodies. I open up the hatch on top and we check outside, and it seems clear of zombies at the moment. There are a few, but they are a ways off. As we dispose of the bodies, zombies start to head towards us on the surface. Suddenly, she grabs a pipe, and runs towards a zombie, and bashes it's head in. I try to pull her back in, but she brushes me off, and says "You have to live Mike! Get in the bunker!" I try to grab for her but she gets cut off from me by the zombies, while I'm screaming, "Where the hell are you going!?" At this point I quickly jump down into the shelter and I close the hatch behind me.
Scene change.
It is mid summer now, and the zombies are now gone. It is a very nice, summer day and I'm lounging on top of a white two door car which broke down near the entrance of the bunker. Suddenly I hear a vehicle drive up, and it is a bunch of survivors too. The driver says, "Hey, you're a survivor too? Come with us, we're going somewhere safe." I say, "No thanks, I'm waiting for someone here." "Are you sure man?" "Yeah, thanks anyways." They then drive off.
Scene change.
I wake up to a rumble on the surface, and I open the hatch to my bunker and I climb out. It is a convoy of vehicles with humans in them, and one of them notices me and says "Hey! Come with us, we need more! It's the final battle, we're gonna kick these alien assholes back to where they come from!" I'm like, "...what? What's going on?" He looks at me, with surprise, and goes, "What, you didn't know? It's a uprising!" I look at the chain of vehicles packed with people, and I look down into the bunker, and then I go, "Alright, I'll come."
Then my alarm sounds and I wake up.
This dream is my most vivid dream since the one I had a few years ago with the girl ripped in half. It is also the first one I remember dreamed in such a narrative form. | comments: Sing for me, Darling |

| VERY sunny day today. No wind, sun is high, and ~58 degrees.
Here's a pic I took, because I didn't want to waste the day away.

| Had it been another day I might have looked the other way and, I'd have never been aware but as it is I'll dream of her tonight.
I've fallen in love with a girl in a class at first meeting on Monday. She is absolutely amazing...I cannot fully express how much I feel in just words, but I want to be with her. | comments: 1 comment or Sing for me, Darling |

| Here's my weirdest dream ever: The dream takes place in the class room of my high school senior english class, right before I graduated, and it is in first person. So then, the dream starts as I walk into the classroom, and I sit towards the rear of the class. As I sit down, there is no one else in the room, it is devoid of any other presence. I look towards the door, and within a few moments, this flood of people crowd in. However, each person within the flood is not distinguishable. Rather, the flood appears as this flat, 2D mish-mash appearance of people. As the flood moves into the room, it converges onto the teacher's desk in the front of the class, completely obscuring it from my vision and forming into a large ball. Shortly after this flood enters into the room, a female whom I do not recognize enters the room, followed by two males whom I do not recognize as well. She stops in the middle of the rows of chairs, and lets the first male pass by and then into the flood. Then, she does something weird...tripping the second male, and he collapses on his front side. The female then turns towards the "flood" and enters in it. The male gets up, and follows the other two into the flood. Moments later, a horrible shriek peirces the room, and this thin looking, watery blood splatters all over the blackboard behind the desk. Shortly after, a third male, whom I did not recognize as any of the two entering the room originally, walks out of the ball carrying the lower half of the female, from the waist down, and walks out of the room. Then, one of the original two males comes out of the ball as well, but instead of heading straight for the door, he stops in front of me, looks me in the eyes, and opens up his hand and shows me a large block of what appears to be salt. He then turns towards the door and walks out. Finally, two more males walk out the ball, one of whom I recognized to be one of the original two, and a new one whom I do not recognize. They are holding a aquarium tank filled with blood between them, and in it is the upper half of the female. They stop in front of me, and the female gives me a terrified, utterly longing look, and she raises one of her arms out of the blood as to beg me for help, all at the time silently moving her mouth trying to tell me something, and finally the males walk out with the tank. I wake up in a cold sweat and terrified. It is to this day, the creepiest dream I've ever had. Anyone want to take a stab at interpreting this one? This dream is a few years old, but due to it's vividness and the realism of how the female cried out to me for help, I've kept this dream in memory since. | comments: 2 comments or Sing for me, Darling |
